Network Management System

FlexiDAMA’s Network Management System (NMS) uses a distributed computing architecture based on PCs and the Windows NT® operating system. It provides unlimited expansion capability, robust redundancy and a modern graphical user interface. The FlexiDAMA NMS is the most flexible and modern system available in the VSAT market.

Network Control Computer (NCC)

FlexiDAMA offers a complete set of network operations and management tools. These include:

• Network Engineering
• Network Operation
• Remote Control

These features are provided at the centrally located NCC. The NCC supports a graphical user interface to facilitate the installation, administration and operation of the FlexiDAMA II network. The NCC is the operator interface for managing the network.

Network Engineering:

The NCC provides a graphical user interface for setting up the FlexiDAMA network, allowing the network installations engineer to configure and program a variety of network and remote site parameters. Once the network installation engineer enters the configuration parameters the data is stored in a database at the NCC. The following is a list of features supported by FlexiDAMA:

• Network Configuration
• Frequency Plan (CSC Frequencies and channel pools)
• Dialing Plan
• PAMA Circuits
• Traffic Analysis

Network Operations:

The NCC provides complete support for the operations, monitoring and control of the FlexiDAMA network. A graphical user interface for the FlexiDAMA network allows the operations engineer to monitor the network and control various local and remote functions. The network activity is logged to various log files on the NCC. The following is a of list features supported:

• Network Status (Site, FDU, DCU, ROC, XCVR, Tracking)
• Geographical Status Display
• Remote Diagnostics and Maintenance
• Time Tagged Call Details
• Time Tagged Event Log
• Channel and Frequency Usage
• Remote Firmware Downloads
• FEP Redundancy Configuration (Geographically Remote or Local Redundancy)
• Background Alarm Monitoring

Remote Control

The NCC provides control of key earth station parameters. Site, FDU, DCU and Reference Oscillator parameters can be viewed and modified using the NCC remote control feature.
