Integrated System
Single integrated system supporting broadband communications needs
including voice, video and data applications. Delivering multiple
services on a single system reduces the number of unique network
elements and, consequently, network complexity and cost.
Low cost of operation
The PolarSat NANOOK system delivers one of the lowest operational
cost per user of any Broadband Access solution. This is achieved
through the use of IP data compression, efficient Forward Error
Correction (FEC) and Bandwidth on Demand (BoD) technology. Integrated
network management utilizing SNMP allows full control of the network
further lowering the ongoing operational cost. Wireless connectivity
delivers cost effective reach to enterprise customers without having
to deploy terrestrial fiber/cable all the way to the customer premises.
Enterprise Level of Service
PolarSat's Broadband Access solution delivers multi-media services
designed to meet the specific needs of the enterprise customer.
The NANOOK solution is specifically engineered to go beyond just
Internet access. Integrated QoS and BoD allow video, data and voice
to operate seamlessly even in the most demanding enterprise environments.
Quality of Service (QoS)
PolarSat's system allows the user to set the QoS level on individual
application level streams. This level of manageability delivers
effective transport of multiple services over a single cost-effective
connection. In addition, traffic shaping can be set on both forward
and return links allowing asymmetric applications to perform to
their optimal level.
Security and Virtual Private Network Support
PolarSat’s system allows a system operator total flexibility
on how to configure the system to meet the unique requirements of
multiple customers. The approach is based upon providing a highly
scalable carrier-class system for delivering broadband access and
supporting multiple customers through the use of Virtual Private
Networks (VPNs). Integrated IPSec encrypts user data over the satellite.
Firewalls are integrated at the hub and remote terminals
preventing security violations.
