PolarSat announces appointment of members to Board of Directors

Montreal, Quebec, Canada, May 5, 2003 – PolarSat, a new, privately-held Canadian company focused on the manufacture of satellite communications equipment, is proud to announce the appointment of new members to its Board of Directors.

Effective April 15, 2003, the following gentlemen were appointed to the Board:

Chairman
Mr. Lionel Hurtubise

Lionel Hurtubise became president and CEO of Ericsson Canada Inc. in 1986 and was appointed Chairman on July 1, 1994, a position he still holds.

Mr. Hurtubise holds a number of positions in national and regional institutions dedicated to high technology. He is past chairman of the Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA), Canada's largest high-technology industry association.

At the CATA Alliance 18th Annual Innovation Awards Reception and Gala held on April 29th in Ottawa, Ericsson Canada Chairman, Mr. Hurtubise, was presented with their Innovation & Leadership Award for Private Sector Leadership in Advanced Technology, one of the most prestigious annual awards conferred on individuals and corporations by Canada's advanced technology community. This award follows several over the years, including honorary doctorates.

Mr. Hurtubise is past chairman of the board of several organizations, among them, the Canadian Network for the Advancement of Research, Industry and Education (CANARIE), the Société Innovatech Grand Montréal and the Computer Research Institute of Montreal (CRIM).

A native of Montreal, Mr. Hurtubise studied Science at Loyola College, Montreal, and Economics at McGill University.

Mr. Göran Fröling
Vice President & General Manager
Ericsson Canada Inc.

Göran Fröling has served as Vice President and General Manager of Ericsson Canada’s Research and Development Centre since 1998.

A native of Nynashamn, Sweden, Göran Fröling studied in Stockholm and obtained a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career at Ericsson in 1966 and has held positions in various divisions in Sweden, the UK, the United States and Canada.

Since 1998, as Vice President and General Manager, Mr. Fröling has directed the R&D Centre in Montreal. This Centre – the fifth largest one in terms of R&D expenditure in Canada – has 1,600 employees. This centre is Ericsson’s largest centre, outside of Sweden.
