PolarSat and GPTC solidify their long-standing
relationship by signing strategic agreement
Montreal, Quebec, Canada, March 31, 2005 – PolarSat
has entered into a long term strategic agreement with GPTC (General
Post and Telecom Company) of Libya. This multi-phase accord will
bring PolarSat’s state-of-the-art satellite-based communications
VSAT (very small aperture terminal) technology to GPTC clients throughout
Libya.
“PolarSat values the relationship we have built over the years
with GPTC and looks forward to a long term partnership in bringing
advanced satellite technology to Libya” says Marc Lupien,
Executive Vice President, PolarSat.
Initially PolarSat will deliver its high performance FlexiDAMA Star
& Mesh VSAT solutions to GPTC addressing the immediate telecommunication
needs of the country’s oil companies and subsequently address
special needs in other enterprise sectors. PolarSat already enjoys
a substantial presence in the oil industry in Libya.
In selecting PolarSat as a partner for providing VSAT solutions
to GPTC, we feel confident that the country will benefit from superior
satellite communication technologies for its immediate and future
needs.
FlexiDAMA uses SCPC-DAMA satellite access technology to provide
full mesh circuit and packet switched connectivity with dynamic
in-circuit bandwidth-on-demand to provide maximum flexibility and
bandwidth efficiency. Further, the company’s SkyIP (IP-based
technology) offers remote offices simplicity and scalability across
a wide range of telecommunications services, including Internet
access, LAN/WAN interconnects, voice, data, and on-demand video
